For the patty

  • 1 tsp black pepper (ground)
  • 2 cups brown lentils
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin coconut oil
  • ¼ cup ground flaxseed
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 2 cups vegetable broth
  • 1 cup walnuts (crushed and roasted)
  • ½ cup water

For the burger

  • 10 green lettuce
  • 10 tbsps hummus
  • 10 tbsps ketchup
  • 10 medium radish (sliced)
  • 5 medium tomato (sliced)
  • 10 whole grain burger buns


  1. Use a big pot and boil the lentils in the vegetable broth until soft for about 30-40 min.
  2. Mix the ground flax seeds with the water and put it on the side minutes.
  3. Preheat a skillet and add the coconut oil, fry the onion for about 2-4 minutes until soft and golden brown.
  4. After the lentils are soft put them into a big bowl and use an immersion blender to create a smooth mixture.
  5. Add the onion, walnuts, mustard, salt, pepper and flax seeds, mix everything well and form the burger patties with your hands.
  6. Preheat a big skillet and fry the patties until golden brown from both sides with half a tbs coconut oil per 4 patties.
  7. Spread one tbs hummus and ketchup on the bun and add the lettuce leaf, sliced tomato, radishes and one patty.
